About PillSeal
PillSeal is made by Collin Mendons, an independent developer based in Switzerland. It is one person, not a company: I build the app, and I answer the support email.
Why I built it
I built PillSeal because I needed it. I take medication twice a day, and some of it has to come after a meal. For a long time I did what most people do: I set reminders, and then I ignored them. A reminder is easy to wave away when your hands are full and you are halfway through something else, and the dose quietly does not happen. I did not want a better reminder. I wanted to be accountable to it, so I built the thing I could not talk my way out of.
Why it works the way it does
An alarm, not a notification
A notification asks for your attention and then gives up. It arrives while your hands are full, you glance at it, and the decision to take your dose quietly never gets made. PillSeal rings like an alarm instead, through silent mode and Do Not Disturb, and it comes back until the dose is taken. That is deliberately harder to ignore, because ignoring it is the problem.
Nothing leaves your phone
There is no account, no sign-in and no server holding your medication list. Your schedule, your dose history and your check-in photos stay on your device. This is not a feature that was added, it is the shape the app was built in, which is why there is no cloud sync to turn off.
The check-in confirms presence, not identity
The camera step exists so that confirming a dose takes a moment of real attention rather than a reflex tap. It looks for a person and for movement. It does not recognise faces, it does not know who you are, and the photo is yours: it stays on the device with the rest of it.
